Lisa Kamikazi
Liza Kamikazi’s actual name is Solange. She’s an artist who writes songs, sings, acts in role-plays and movies. She’s 24 years of age and has finished her degree in journalism. Her song that has won big time fame is Usiniache baby.
She started singing as a young child in the children’s choir of the ADEPR in Butare. When she went to high school she added more knowledge to her art of singing.
After finishing her high school she released her first song she called My Special One.
She has so far released one album called HOBE and she’s preparing another one in the studio.
In her art, there is no specific artist that she imitates but she has always listened to the Rwandese singers that include Cecile Kayirebwa, Florida Uwera and Kamaliza. In her songs she mixes the local style of music with international music.
She says that she had a chance of her Mother’s support of which she’s so much appreciates because that encouraged her to a better job of achieving what she has achieved so far.
Besides singing she acts in role-plays and is always seen in different parties playing with children in the role-plays.
She started acting in role-plays (Dramas) at university while she underwent the training in Azimut Art. She realized she’s also good at that and joined the role-play (Drama) group called Isoko (the source).
The challenge she faces as a girl is that there are people who still think that a singing girl is a vagabond, stubborn girl or a disrespectful one. Others think they can tell a girl singer anything they may want to and that disturbs someone whenever she wants to pass on a certain message in the song.
Other challenges are general to artists and they include; difficulty in producing their songs, duplication of their songs to freely access them and lack of investors in music.
The message she has for girl that love singing but have low self-esteem is to have their heads up and sing. Share with others their songs and enjoy the joy that comes from people loving the songs you’ve done yourself.
Liza wants to sing as a professional and because of her love for children, she could like to support vulnerable children among other things she’ll do.
